About

By Survivors, For Survivors

We are an arts-based support group for people who have experienced assault or abuse at any point in their lives.  We were started by queer people of colour, and we welcome people of any gender over the age of 18.  We are run by survivors, for survivors, and we are not therapists or mental health professionals.  Our meetings are free, and they are a space for us to create together and share skills for resilience and healing.  Due to COVID, our meetings are currently online every week.

Will I have to speak about my experiences?

You don't have to share anything you're not comfortable with. Meetings are a calm, friendly space, with a different creative activity each month. A facilitator will be available after the meeting if you need to talk.

What kind of art will we be doing?

Each month we'll have a different theme and creative activity.  Materials will be provided though you are welcome to bring your own.  You don't have to have any artistic experience to take part!

Do I have to reserve a space in advance?

If you've never been to a meeting before, please email us so we can have a quick chat about what you'd like to get out of the group, and any access needs. If you've been before, just let us know you're coming so we know what to bring for supplies and snacks.

“It’s trauma. It’s also a resource. A resource that isn’t just an individual one, but one that connects me to other survivors and their collective knowledge. Knowledge that we have used to survive, and that we could potentially use to change the world, end rape culture, and create new forms of healing, family, communication, and justice.”
